The complete guide
Why CBD? The whole story.
What it is, how it works, what to look for and why we built a whole intimacy line around it. Understand the ingredients before choosing your formula.
01 · The basics
What is CBD?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of more than 100 naturally occurring compounds called cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It's the plant's calm, non-intoxicating side.
THC is the cannabinoid that causes a high. CBD doesn't. Our CBD comes from hemp, cannabis legally defined as containing no more than 0.3% THC by dry weight.
That's what drew our founder Kim to it: she wanted plant-powered care without anything psychoactive, because THC made her anxious.

02 · The science, simply
Meet your endocannabinoid system.
01
Receptors
Your body has cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) throughout the nervous system, immune cells and skin, including intimate tissue.
02
Messengers
Your body makes its own cannabinoids, like anandamide (from the Sanskrit 'ananda', meaning bliss), which help regulate everyday balance.
03
Where CBD fits
Researchers believe CBD interacts with this system indirectly, including by slowing the breakdown of anandamide. Science is still learning exactly how.
Research on CBD is growing but still early. This page is general education, not medical advice.
03 · Our why
Why CBD for intimacy?
Kim lived with severe pelvic pain during sex for years. The options she was offered, mostly numbing gels, dulled pleasure along with discomfort. She wanted something that cared for the body without switching it off.
CBD has been widely studied for its interactions with inflammation and the skin, and cannabinoid receptors are present in intimate tissue. Many of our customers describe our formulas as part of a calmer, more comfortable ritual. Experiences vary, and research on topical CBD for intimacy specifically is limited, which is why we're always upfront about what we can and can't promise.

04 · Know the types
Full, broad or isolate?
Full-spectrum
- CBD
- Other cannabinoids
- Terpenes
- Trace THC (≤0.3%)
Keeps the whole plant profile. Many people prefer it for the so-called entourage effect.

Similar to full-spectrum, with THC removed.
Isolate
- CBD only
Pure CBD with no other plant compounds.
05 · Formats
Topical vs. tincture.
| Topicals (oils, serums, lotions) | Tinctures | |
|---|---|---|
| How it's used | Applied to skin | Taken under the tongue |
| Designed for | The area you apply it to | Whole-body routine |
| Our picks | Intimate Oil, Erotic Oil, Hydro Glide, Zen X10 | Tantric Tincture |
| Read first | Condom compatibility, patch test | THC content, serving size |
Oil vs. water base: oil-based formulas feel silky and long-lasting but aren't safe with latex condoms. Water-based Hydro Glide is condom-compatible.
07 · Use it well
Safety, frankly.

Good habits
- Patch test on your inner arm 24 hours before first use
- Start with a small amount
- Check condom compatibility before you play
- Follow the label directions
Talk to a provider first if you
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Take prescription medication
- Have ongoing pain, bleeding or infection symptoms
- Are subject to drug testing
08 · Trust
Legal & lab tested.
The 2018 US Farm Bill made hemp with no more than 0.3% THC federally legal. Rules still vary by state and country, check local regulations.
Our products are third-party lab tested. A certificate of analysis (COA) shows a batch's CBD and THC levels so you can see exactly what's inside.
09 · Myth vs. fact
Let's clear things up.
Myth: CBD gets you high.
CBD isn’t intoxicating. Hemp-derived products contain no more than trace THC.
Myth: All CBD is the same.
Spectrum, concentration, extraction and the rest of the formula vary a lot.
Myth: More milligrams = better.
Start small and follow the label. The right amount varies person to person.
Myth: It’s not legal.
Hemp-derived CBD with ≤0.3% THC is federally legal in the US; local laws vary.
Myth: You can’t test it.
Reputable brands publish third-party certificates of analysis for each batch.
